Building Pa1l – A Platform for Spontaneous Giving
Overview
Pa1l is a New Zealand-built digital platform that makes spontaneous giving
effortless. Designed for the cashless age, it allows users to donate instantly
to registered charities — straight from their phone, wherever they are. Whether
at an event or in an everyday moment, Pa1l supports a new wave of donors who
want to give on the go.
Our Role
Our Down Periscope team contributed to all aspects of the development, from
concept and design, through to building the fully operational platform. While
the product is not yet in market due to non-technical challenges, it is
complete and ready for launch.
The Build
Pa1l was built with both usability and functionality at its core. Key features
include:
- A secure digital wallet for
fast, frictionless giving
- Comprehensive admin portal for
managing charities and campaigns
- Built-in ticketing system to
support event-based donations
- User management tools to
help organizations track and support their donor base
We collaborated closely with financial and
data privacy experts to ensure the platform meets legal and ethical standards
for handling donations and personal information.
Challenges
The biggest technical hurdle was building a seamless and secure payment
process. As Pa1l essentially functions as a digital wallet, integrating the
necessary infrastructure while ensuring regulatory compliance required
extensive planning and expert input.
Outcome
Pa1l is now technically complete and poised for launch. It offers a new way for
charities to connect with donors in real time and makes generosity easier than
ever for users. You can view more details at www.pa1l.online.
What We’re Proud Of
The Pa1l project brought together smart design, robust engineering, and expert
collaboration. It’s rewarding to have helped create a tool that not only works beautifully
but also has the potential to do genuine good in the world.
